FAQs

What is the burn time for each candle and wax melt?

This depends on the candle size and how you care for your candle, but approximately the burns time are:

30cl - 40-45 hours
20cl - 30-35 hours
4cl - 8 hours

Wax melt - 20 hours

How do I best care for my candles so they last longer?

Here are my top tips for the best candle care:

  • Trim your wick to around 3mm before your burn your candle or for every 4 hours of burn time.
  • The first burn is the most important, I recommend burning your candle so the first layer has completely liquified to the edge of the container to prevent tunnelling on the second burn.
  • Avoid debris in the wax like burnt wick or burnt matches, this will keep your candle clean and smelling great every time you light it.
  • Burn for four hours maximum each time, this is also for safety reasons.
  • Keep away from draughts when lit, the flame becomes unsafe and burns the wax much quicker if it flickers too much.
  • Once your candle has got to 5mm at the bottom stop burning it. However you can buy another of our luxury candles to enjoy again.

What can I recycle when I order?

Most of our packaging and empty containers can be reused or recycled. Here is a list of everything you will receive and how to recycle, reuse or dispose of it:

  • Glass candle container - can be recycled with your glass in your local area or reused as drinks glasses, plant pots, storage jars and more (get creative and send us what you come up with to lauren@calmlycandles.co.uk). You need to remove the scent label and warning label on base, unfortunately these are not recyclable just yet - we're working on it.
  • Remaining wax and wick holder & sticker - carefully pour boiling water into the used container and leave it to sit until cool. This will bring all leftover wax to the surface and lift the wick holder up. Please dispose of the wick sticker and metal holder responsibly. You can reuse the remaining wax as little wax melts, if you have a wax burner.
  • Dust covers can be recycled with your paper.
  • Cotton candle bag/pouches - can be reused as travel bags, make-up bags, accessories bag like jewellery, gift bags and more.
  • Packing peanuts - dissolvable in water. Fill your sink up or a bowl, leave the packing peanuts in the water to dissolve (takes approx. 20 mins) and safe to then pour down kitchen drain.
  • Tissue Paper - can be recycled with your paper.
  • Cardboard boxes & brown paper tape - can be recycled in your household paper/cardboard recycling.
